History
Due to continious lack of proffessional workers in education the long awaited Maribor Academy of Education was finally established in 1961. The Academy was founded one decade before the University of Maribor was formally established in 1975. With the Bologna Process, the graduate and postgraduate programmes were adapted to changes in university teaching: the three-year BA, two-year MA, and three-year PhD programmes were fully introduced in 2010. Today it also published reference literature and a magazine dedicated to elementary learning (Revija za elementarno izobraževanje).
International Cooperation
The student exchange at the Faculty is possbile within the framework of ERASMUS/SOCRATES, Cempius and national student and academic exchange. The Faculty co-operates with the Faculty of Artswith the International Society of Education through Arts (InSEA). As a part of the University of Maribor the faculty is involved in many international networks, including ENAS (European Network of Academic Sport Services) and UNEECC (The University Network of the European Capitals of Culture).
