The Institute for Civilisation and Culture (ICK) was founded in 1997 as an independent research organisation with the legal status of an independent institute for research, education and counselling in social science and humanities. It is a non-governmental and non-partisan think-tank which performs research and consultancy in the fields of media, cultural policies, democratic developments, transitions and EU integrations.

The Institute's research activities deal with the broad areas of civilisation and culture as well as delving in the social, civil, urban and cultural aspects of human existence (historical demographics; social stratification; migrations/transitional demographics; cultural policy, national-supernational, language issues, national education and science policies and their roles as constituting parts of the world development, social impact of new technologies and information society as such). Its departments are: Department for the Study of Media and Publics, Department of Identity and Culture, Department of Safety and Freedom and the Economic Department, while its units are: Slavica - Network of Slavic Countries, Institute for New Economy, Democratic office and ICK films.

The Institute of Civilisation and Culture (ICK) was founded in 1997 as an independent institute supporting research, educational, publishing, and consulting activities in a range of areas spanning human rights, ecology, and EU integration as well as media, cultural, education and scientific policies.
