Based in Ljubljana, the International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies (IFIMES) is a centre for inter-religious, multi-ethnic and Middle-East studies which gathers and selects various information and sources on the world’s key conflict areas. The idea to establish IFIMES as a reflection of our common reality and the needs of the world to reach for common solutions. Common interests and bonds among nations and religions in the world of monopolies are essential. Insisting on a multi-ethnic environment is a weapon against global injustice. The area of research and work of IFIMES is the Middle East (Gulf countries) and South Eastern Europe, where relations among different entities have a religious, ethnic, multinational and racial basis. Associates of the Institute are respected experts and scientists who introduce younger colleagues to their work with the aim of additional education and promotion of knowledge and science. IFIMES organises seminars, symposia, conferences and round tables involving participants from various interest groups (scientists, politicians, managers, representatives of religious institutions, journalists, artists and others) and presents the results of its work and achievements through its publications, also targeting leading international media. IFIMES will in future co-operate with relevant institutions from the USA, the EU, the Gulf countries and countries from South Eastern Europe on projects and studies, prepared individually or based on specific demands.
