Located at the Srečko Vilhar Public Library, Koper-Capodistria, the Library Association of Primorska brings together professionals from the western part of Slovenia and the cross-border Slovene minorities in Italy. The majority of its members work in public libraries, elementary schools, secondary schools, high school libraries and special libraries throughout the region. The Association organises lectures, seminars, meetings and excursions and engages in some publishing activities to stimulate development of librarianship theory and practice.

The association is a member of the Union of Associations of Slovene Librarians.
