Collections

The Tabor Movement Museum Collection was founded in 1981 at Ljutomer Town Hall following the rearrangement of the former Museum of the National Liberation War. It displays documents and artefacts which illustrate the history and development of the Tabor Movement of 1868–1871, under which numerous groups of young intellectuals living in Slovene ethnic territory initiated mass open-air forums (tabors) to publicise and rally support for a united Slovenia. Although they were later banned, the influence of the tabors continued to be felt in later years whenever questions concerning the Slovene national movement were raised.

The General Museum Collection presents cultural, political, social and economic life of Ljutomer and Prlekija region from the first mention of Ljutomer in the 13th century until the 20th century. Special attention is drawn to famous natives, active at the time in Prlekija region, like Ivan Gottweis, Stanko Vraz, Franc Miklošič, Henrik Schreiner, and Rafael Ferdinand Hussian, a personal doctor of emperor Franc I.

The Karol Grossmann Collection presents life and work of first Slovene film amateur and cameraman through his art photographs and projections of oldest Slovene movies, shot in 1905–1906 in Ljutomer.
