Mikl House Gallery is Part of Ribnica Municipality's Mikl House cultural complex. It was established under different name Petkova Galerija in 1972 located in premises of Ribnica Castle and it was first space in town of Ribnica dedicated to art exhibitions. In 1988 program and collections moved nearby to ground floor of newly renovated Mikl House. It promotes and shows mainly contemporary art production. Mikl House Gallery houses an important art collection which includes around 350 works of art dating from the 1980s and 1990s by Slovene artists Mirsad Begić, Gustav Gnamuš, Emerik Bernard, Lujo Vodopivec, Matjaž Počivavšek, Janez Bernik, Dragica Čadež, Zdenko Huzjan, Dušan Tršar, Zdenka Žido, Marjetica Potrč, Marjan Gumilar, Sandi Červek, Bojan Gorenc, Marija Rus, Lojze Logar, Andraž Šalamun, Tugo Šušnik, Jože Barši, Mirko Bratuša, Sergej Kapus and Herman Gvardjančič. The didactic collection (82 works of art) shows different techniques and genres. Second part of the collection also includes several works by old masters, including Meister H G G, Valentin Metzinger, Matevž Langus, Ivan Franke and Ivan Grohar, plus three golden altars dating from 1648. Gallery organises temporary exhibitions, art workshops and courses. Every year exhibition from Riko Art Collection is organised showing parts of a rich private art collection of Riko Company's director Janez Škrabec, which is one of the most visible contemporary Maecenas of Slovenian culture. Mikl House Gallery is administered by Mikl House Library.
