Miran Jarc Library in Novo mesto functions as the regional library for South East Slovenia. The Library was founded in 1946 as a regional study library and is currently the main library in the Novo mesto area. Financial support is given by Novo mesto Urban Municipality and the [[Ministry of Culture]] of Slovenia. The 1,733 square-metre library incorporates a 70-seat reading room. The Library functions both as a traditional library and as a multimedia information centre for the school population and other communities living in the region. Slovenian literary encounters, featuring a lecture on Slavko Grum by Darja Peperko Golob (Miran Jarc Library, Novo mesto) and kamishibai performances based on Slovenian literary tales and a workshop by Breda Kočevar (Črnomelj Library) and Tatjana Grabrijan, organised by Slovenian Culture and Information Centre, Vienna (SKICA) (Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia Vienna), Miran Jarc Library, Novo mesto, Slovenian Institute in Vienna, and Austrian Centre for Ethnic Groups,
The regional library is the seat of the Library Association of Dolenjska.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
