Open House Slovenia Festival was launched in 2010 when it opened outstanding buildings for general public for the first time. Since then the festival showcases every year during up to three days a new selection of buildings round Slovenia, from private houses to educational or cultural institutions, or business, sports, tourism and health facilities or open spaces. The latest contemporary architecture is featured alongside successful adaptations of historical buildings.

Organised tours are guided by architects or building owners or users, with more than 250 architects, owners, event organizers and 50 volunteers participating in the event every year. All events are free, only for private houses visits need to be prebooked online.

The festival as well as other activities of the Open House Slovenia are organized by a non-profit organization Afront, which was assigned the highest Slovene architectural prize, Plečnik medal for the project. The OHS initiative promotes effective dialogue between professionals, industry, politics, economy and the general public.
