Overjam Reggae Festival is summer music festival that has been delivering reggae, dub and dancehall music since 2012. It is a four days long event taking place at Sotočje, a penninsula at the confluence of two moutain rivers in Tolmin, where its predecessor Soča Reggae Riversplash has been held since 2000. As such, reggae has a long tradition at that location, where it now once again hosts a varied mix of regional and international artists and audiences.

The festival has an international organising consortium, with the Slovenian part of it being Kurz Rock Vibe.

The venue and its history

Sotočje, with its mountainous backdrop, has since the turn of the century fast become the number one location for Slovenian summer festivals. Set in an alpine region with a somewhat mediterranean climate, having the gorgeous and swimming friendly river Soča at its disposal, this very much makes sense. It can equally adequately accommodate both boutique festivals for 200 and massive events for 12000 visitors, with the organisers also profiting from the relative proximity of the Italian and Austrian audiences.

Alongside the pioneering and still active Sajeta Creative Camp, Soča Reggae Riversplash made the most to popularise the venue, where now the massively popular MetalDays (held since 2004), the yet-young Punk Rock Holiday (held since 2012) and some more sporadic events are now annually taking place each summer. Due to many difficulties, Riversplash has seen its last edition in 2009 and up until than brought many renowned artists such as Macka B, Gentleman or Michael Rose of Black Uhuru.

Overjam musical and other programme

Filling a two year vacuum in the Slovenian reggae scene, Overjam was first held in the village of Vrtojba, near the Italian border. The location was chosen as a temporary one and was due to the Italian co-organisers of the festival. In 2013, the festival arrive/returned to Sotočje and since than its line-up held Zion Train, Dub Inc, Macka B, Groundation, Barrington Levy, Channel One soundsystem, Anthony B, Skarra Mucci, Hollie Cook, Ricky Trooper, Luciano, Max Romeo, Fatman Hifi,...

One can also attend lectures at the so-called Overjam University, let his kids spend some quality time at Overjam 4 Kidz, join the workshops on drumming, yoga, juggling, slacklining, clay making and similar, or just come a bit earlier and chill at the pre-party event. Last but not least, there is the river to swim in and the surrounding Soča valley for a plethora of other activities.
