The Slovene Association of Antique and Humanistic Studies was founded in 1976 with the aim of promoting antique Roman and Greek culture, facilitating the study of antiquity and the humanities, and collaborating with schools offering courses in Latin and Ancient Greek languages and literature. Together with the Department of Classics at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, the association is also active in providing information to professionals and by hosting debates, literature presentations, and other related events.


Members and activities

Members of the association are professionals with a degree in Greek and Latin Language and Literature or a related discipline, translators or students of Greek and Latin Language and Literature.

The association organises annual competitions in the knowledge of Latin for high school students. The online popularisation of Antique and Humanistic Studies is also made possible with the discussion group Agor@, which is open for individuals interested in the topics of classic philology. The Association co-organises annual event on recent issues in Antique and Humanistic Studies Grošelj Symposium, which is named after Slovene classical philologist Milan Grošelj (1902–1979).

The Association publishes journal Keria, Studia Latina et Graeca, which focuses on humanistic studies for classical philologists, historians, philosophers, archaeologists, lawyers, medievalists, Slav and Roman language experts and pedagogues.
