The Sextet comprises Slovenia’s third generation of musicians, who play a wide range of wind instruments including the standard orchestral B flat and A clarinets, alto clarinet, basset horn, the smaller E flat clarinet and the largest bass and contrabass clarinets. The group is currently led by master clarinettist Jože Kotar professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and former member of the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra. All of the Sextet's musicians combine performing and teaching careers.
The Slovene Clarinet Sextet mostly presents a contemporary music repertoire though it also plays arrangements of classical music pieces. It has performed and recorded in Slovenia, Italy, Serbia and Montenegro.
The Discography Unit, RTV Slovenia released a CD containing performances of the sextet.

It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage.
