The first award was bestowed to Nace Šumi, a representative of the second generation of Slovene art historians. The only group, consisting of Stane Peterlin and Ivan Stopar, to receive an award was in 1992. In the last decade awards have been given to Nataša Štupar Šumi (2012), Mira Strmčnik Gulič (2011) Janez Mikuž (2010), Ana Sonja Hoyer (2009), Peter Fister (2008), Viktor Gojkovič (2007) and Anka Aškerc (2006), Ivan Bogovčič (2005), Tone Mikeln (2004), Marijan Zadnikar (2003), Stojan Ribnikar (2002) and Sergej Vrišer (2001).
