Launched in 1998, the [[Visuality Summer School]] is organised annually in Nova Gorica by the [[Audiovisual Laboratory, Institute of Slovene Ethnology]] and the Nova Gorica branch office of the [[Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD)]]. It is an annual 7-10 day training summer school which aims to develop skills and contemporary methods of recording audio-visual material and dealing with it, from subject research and analysis to editing. The school proposes that skills acquired in the field of non-artistic film and video which are employed in science might be usefully applied to the use of visual information in various educational, cultural and research activities, while research into visuality that is usually developed within the scope of arts and humanities could also be incorporated into broad educational practice, thus bringing science closer to education. Participants include pupils, students, museum workers, tutors and researchers who are interested in visual ethnography and visual anthropology. In 2007 a group of 12 participants dealt with the theme of intercultural dialogue and life stories.

Launched in 1998, the Visuality Summer School is organised annually in Nova Gorica by the Audiovisual Laboratory, Institute of Slovene Ethnology and the Nova Gorica branch office of the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia (JSKD).

Past tutors have included Rajko Bizjak, Peter Crawford, Aleš Doktorič, Jože Dolmark, Beate Engelbrecht, Aurora Fonda, Silvan Furlan, Janez Hönn, Allison Jablonko, Naško Križnar, Primož Lampič, Amir Muratović, Miha Peče, Stojan Pelko, Nataša Prosenc, Tone Rački, Borko Radešček, Janez Strehovec, Zdenko Vrdlovec, Melita Zajc and Andrej Zdravič. Participants of the workshops within the Summer School of Visuality have so far produced around 15 films on various themes from the Nova Gorica milieu.
