Originally launched in 1900 as a 12-piece orchestra by a Czech newspaper proprietor named Malahovski, Vevče Paperworks Brass Orchestra developed continuously throughout the first half of the 20th century. In the 1950s it began to play compositions by modern Slovene composers (for example Blaž Arnič and Emil Adamič) as well as showcasing international works. Acquiring its current name in 1963, the Orchestra also began co-operating closely with the Music School in Moste in order to access young musicians. Today the Orchestra performs regularly at the Cankarjev dom Culture and Congress Centre, where it gives a traditional Christmas concert, as well as touring overseas. In 2005 the Orchestra received 3rd Prize at the international competition in Riva del Garda.
