The International Cooperation and EU Office of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport works on bilateral cooperation and multilateral cooperation in educational and scientific fields, and international cooperation in all spheres of education.

Aims and contents

Bilateral cooperation is conducted on an annual basis through calls for proposals. The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is actively involved in creating the European Research Area (ERA) and other EU activities in the field of scientific cooperation. Cooperation in this field is also under way with South Eastern Europe. Multilateral cooperation also encompasses cooperation with various international organisations (UNDP, EMBC, ICTP, ICS, ICGEB, CIESM, GBIF, IIR).

The International Cooperation and EU Office is also responsible for international cooperation in the field of higher education, which is conducted under the umbrella of multilateral cooperation with the European Union, Council of Europe, OECD, UNESCO and the Slovenia National Commission for UNESCO as well as on a regional and bilateral basis. The priorities of cooperation include international exchange involving students and teachers in higher education.
