The Ljubljana Vič-Rudnik Music School was established in 1974 as a district music school and has about 500 pupils enrolled each year. Lessons take place at the school's premises in Ljubljana as well as in two separate departments based at Brezovica Primary School and Polhov Gradec Primary School. Over 130 performances of pupils are held annually at school and venues across the country, including collaborations with the Seviqc Brežice Festival.
The school is a principle partner of the EU-funded Central European Initiative Youth Orchestra (CEIYO), based in Trieste and led by the Associazione “Scuola per giovani musicisti” (IT). The school is the only orchestra member from Slovenia in the European Association of Youth Orchestras (EAYO). In 2013 the school organised meetings of its European partner schools in Brno (Czech Republic) and Szeged (Hungary).
