Presented by the Contemporary Dance Association Slovenia since 2013, the Ksenija Hribar Awards honour professionals in the field of contemporary dance in Slovenia whose excellence and innovative work importantly contribute to the quality and development of contemporary dance in Slovenia. The awards are bestowed by an expert jury at the closing event of the biennial Gibanica (Moving Cake) Festival of Slovene Dance.

About

Aimed at encouraging an overall development of the field of contemporary dance, the awards are conferred biannually on choreographers, dancers, dance pedagogues, critics, theoreticians, producers, light, set, and sound designers to celebrate achievements across a range of categories.

The awards are named after choreographer and dancer Ksenija Hribar (1938–1999), who was the driving force behind the struggle for the institutionalisation and professionalisation of contemporary dance in Slovenia.
