Although Mandić has been making films since the early 1980s, including an extensive series of documentaries for Czech television until between 1995 and 2002, it was not until 2005 that he produced his first film under the Filmostovje banner. This was Borderline Lovers (2005), his first feature-length documentary, which examined the lives of three couples who had married across political and cultural lines after the Yugoslav wars.
