The first award was bestowed to Nace Šumi, a representative of the second generation of Slovene art historians. The only group, consisting of Stane Peterlin and Ivan Stopar, to receive an award was in 1992. In recent years awards have been given to Janez Mikuž (2010), Ana Sonja Hoyer (2009) and Peter Fister (2008).
