The task of the Association of Slovene Music Schools (ZSGŠ) is to secure nationwide standards and develop infrastructures for the work of its member music schools, such as curriculum development, organisational assistance, and further training.

The association consists of 53 Slovene public and 3 private music schools with the concession of the Ministry of Culture, therefore it represents the union of 56 music schools which educate pupils under the music and ballet programme at the primary and secondary school levels. The association is committed to improving the working conditions of teaching and music schools, to promoting music education throughout Slovenia, and to interconnect schools.
