The Library of the Department of Classics at the University of Ljubljana was founded in 1919. During the Second World War the German air plane crashed into the building of the library and the entire library fond was ruined. Since then the library material was collected from the scratch. Today the library fond counts more than 16,350 units, also collected with the help of purchasing the scientific library material by the late philologist Andrej Sovrè.

In addition to the print library material, the fond consists of audio-visual and digital library units (maps, recordings, etc.). The library is also subscribed to more than 40 specialised journals, which in total comprises of more than 200 foreign editions.
