Founded in 1945 as the Academy of Acting Arts, the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) (renamed in 1963) has been running the Department of Drama, Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) since its inception. The department coordinates two undergraduate programmes, namely, acting and theatre and radio directing, and a postgraduate programme in directing.


The programme includes lectures and seminars from the area of drama acting and direction, dance and movement, singing, scenography and costme design, and the Slovenian language. Further, it organises practical training for acting students and the students of directing. In the end of each semester, the students prepare closed or public theatre/performing arts performances and radio broadcasts. The department's production is regularly presented at festivals at home and abroad.
