History

In 1962 a new Department of Musicology opened its doors at the Philosophical Faculty. Its first head and full professor became Dr. Dragotin Cvetko. His aspirations were fullfiled and musicology gained success on a university level. As a pioneer of musicology studies he wroe the extensive work History of Music in Slovenia. Along with the donation of renowed musicologist Bruno Nettl, Cvetko's donation of his bibliographic collecition on musicology is available in the Library.

Soon after, in 1965, the Department began to publish regulary the Muzikološki zbornik ('Musicological Annual'). It brings out the articles, scientific papers by Slovenian and international musicologists. The journal has an international advisory board, the papers are published in Slovenian and English. Its content is available at their website and also at the Digital Library ..
