Background
For almost 40 years the Discography Unit has been producing, publishing and distributing audio programmes, over 20 years ago video programmes joined the musical editions. Since the very beginning the unit has covered all music genres: rock, pop, folk music, jazz, classical music, opera, ballet, and chanson. In the former Yugoslavia it was one of the most powerful publishing groups in the 1970s and 1980s. In the last couple of years it is has been directly connected with radio and TV programmes in the sense of promoting recovering and publishing precious audio and video archives and supporting new projects.
Publishing
The Discography Unit yearly publishes 80 to 90 quality programmes from all music genres (kids animation, documentaries, feature film projects). The unit has already published CDs and DVDs from famous orchestras and artists such as RTV Slovenia Big Band, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Dubravka Tomšič, Janez Lotrič, Vinko Globokar and many more. Since they are a part of the RTV Slovenia Multimedia Centre they are extending their publishing activity to also include new media.
