Embassy of the Republic of Germany in Slovenia
Stipends and German language
The DAAD scholarships are awarded annually in different areas of research, including humanities. A lecturer from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) works at the German department of the University of Ljubljana, and a DAAD language assistant at the University of Maribor.
The German government supports German language education in Slovenian schools in a variety of ways. At eight of Slovene grammar schools, students can obtain a German language diploma from the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Federal States in the Federal Republic of Germany. The support is coordinated by a German language advisor from the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA). In 2008 five new partner schools got involved in the German language programme supported by the ZfA and the Goethe Institute.
