Hrušica now pass on a road Logatec-Ajdovščina used to be a strategic point on a Roman military and trade route between Aquilea and Emona (Ljubljana). A open air archaeological site with a room of excavated items in a nearby guest house Stara Pošta presents very important Roman military stronghold called ''Ad Pirum''. It was part of an 80 kilometers long protection system of walls and strongholds that reached from Julian Alps to the Adriatic sea called ''Claustra Alpium Iuliarum''. Remains of that wall are definitely the biggest monument to Roman times in Slovenia. From 3rd to 5th century AD it protected Roman lands against breaches of barbaric tribes from the east. Stronghold had 8 meters high wall and 10 meters high towers. Stronghold is 250m long and 75m high with nearly 3m thick walls where around 500 soldiers could dwell. It is a place of epic battles where a lot of archaeological evidences of warfare were found in a shape of lost belongings of soldiers and centurions fighting there. But walls didn't hold back people to migrate from 5th century on.In early middle ages there is no concrete evidence if stronghold was still in use. In 12. to 14. century church was build inside, dedicated to Saint Jedert, patroness of travellers. So route had traffic. Old Post Office, now a guest house, was a post office station from 19. century on, and also a hunters lodge for counts Lanthieri.
