Concept
The main characteristics of the project Imago Sloveniae are: polycentric activities that bring the high-quality culture from big cities to smaller towns; complex revitalisation of architectural heritage via live arts and culture events; the development of a common label for the Slovene cultural image and promotion of Slovene culture through the linking of live culture with heritage; the discovery of new sites for cultural events (open air, unusual venues in the streets, courtyards, churches, museums); professional organisation of cultural events, offering high quality and free accessibility; and connection of towns and co-ordination of homogeneous cultural space.
2012 projects
In 2012 Imago Sloveniae is organising several festivals and cycles: Summer Imago Sloveniae Festival which lasts from June till September, Summer in Ljubljana Old Town co-organised with Association for the revival of the cultural image of the old town and lasts from June till the middle of August, Nights in Ljubljana Old Town in the last few days in August, Jazz in Upper Square co-organised with Institute for the revival of the cultural image of the old town from June till August and Winter in Ljubljana Old Town in December again co-organised with Association for the revival of the cultural image of the old town.
International projects
Imago Sloveniae organised the European Music Summer 2009, a project supported by the EU Culture Programme (2007–2013). 73 concerts of music ((early music, ethno, jazz)) performed by around 970 musicians from 17 European countries took place at architecture heritage sites of Slovenia, Italy, Croatia and Czech Republic. The project should be the first step towards the Imago Europae network of historical locations, connecting the cultural heritage with living culture.
