The Ljubljana Vič-Rudnik Music School was established in 1974 as a district music school and has about 500 pupils enrolled each year. Performances of pupils are held at school and venues across the country, including collaborations with Seviqc Brežice Festival.

The school is a principle partner of the EU funded Central European Initiative Youth Orchestra (CEIYO) and is the only orchestra member from Slovenia in the European Association of Youth Orchestras (EAYO). In 2013 school organised meetings of European partner schools in Brno (Czech Republic) and Szeged (Hungary).
