Launched in 1993, the Primorska Summer Festival, Koper-Capodistria aimed at presenting recent productions by Slovene repertory theatres to the audiences of the Slovene coastal towns of Koper-Capodistria and Piran-Pirano.

Later on the festival programme has shrunk due to budget cuts. Today it features performances of smaller scale, mostly coming from the littoral region. It collaborates with Lutkarnica - Koper Puppetry Studio and also Koper Theatre. Many theatre plays are performed in the streets and town squares.

Past editions

In Summer 2007 the festival was dedicated to Molière. The programme presented Molière's plays that were staged at the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, Slovene National Theatre Nova Gorica and Koper Theatre, at the Slovene Permanent Theatre Trieste-Trst, and the performance Molière directed by Barbara Novakovič Kolenc, Muzeum Institute).
