Background
Museum Ormož was established in 2005 by the Ormož Municipality with the separation of the Ormož unit from Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum. Since the Ormož Municipality did not manage to cover all the costs, the Museum Ormož was again merged with the Regional Museum of Ptuj in 2009. The new museum was named Ptuj – Ormož Regional Museum.
Mission
The unit carries out its activities in the field of archaeology, ethnology, cultural history, history, and gallery-exhibition activities. It is committed to protection, research and presentation of cultural heritage. It has branches in Ormož Castle and Velika Nedelja Castle.
In 2008 a temporary exhibition ‘’Between Drava and Mura’’ has been organized in Ormož Castle, which was conceived as a presentation of archaeological heritage in the areas and border municipalities Prlekija, Medžimurje (Razkrižje, Štrigova, Ljutomer, Ormož, Brela and Gornji Mihaljevec). The exhibtion was a result of the project Community Initiative INTERREG III A, Neighborhood Program of Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia, entitled Tourist Zones of Prlekija and Medžimurje.
