Circus fantasticus - SFS - 2010 - 04.jpgFilm still from Circus Fantasticus, a film by Janez Burger from Staragara - Ljubljana, winner of the Vesna Award for Best full-length film and the Kodak Award, Festival of Slovenian Film 2010

The Vesna Award is the main film award in Slovenia, named after the Slovene cult film of the 1960s (directed by František Čap). Each year at the Festival of Slovenian Film an expert jury bestows Vesna Awards in different categories (17, but its number could vary). These are: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress (main and supporting role), Best Short Film, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Make-up, Special Achievements, Best Animation, Best Musical Score and Best Sound. The jury can also bestow up to five Vesna Special Acknowledgements.

In the recent years the Vesna Award for the best full-length film went to Children from Petriček Hill (Otroci s Petrička) directed by Miran Zupanič (2007), Landscape No. 2 (Pokrajina št. 2) directed by Vinko Möderndorfer (2008) and 9:06 by Igor Šterk (2009).
