The Library was established in 1960, together with the Department of Sociology. From the first beginnings until now, the Library reached the number of more than 26,000 units of library material.

The annual growth of items in the recent years reaches between 500 and 700 items. According to the statistics, the number of users is growing and so is the number of borrowes material.

Since 2002 the Library's lending system is supported by the computer system. Its fond is included in COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library catalogue and by index files.

The Library holds several journals and other periodicals in the field of Sociology, Sociology of Culture, Anthropology and Gender Studies. The library has a modest reading room, computers that offer access to the COBISS - Slovene Virtual Library catalogue and the use of other electronic sources.
