The Slovene Writers’ Association and the Sodobnost International Cultural Society publishing house decided to introduce an award for short stories because this literary genre had not previously been recognised by a national award. In 2005 the Award (€ 1,000) was conferred for the first time at the Slovene Book Days on Janez Kajzer and his Zaznamek za dosje (File Note). The jury selected the winner among 205 entries.
