The Association for Film Culture Development was established in 2004 in Maribor. Its main goal is to promote film culture in the city of Maribor through the screenings of non-commercial, art films.

At the beginning the screenings took place the Narodni dom cinema as well as ŠTUK Student Event Centre Maribor, now 2016 its domicile is the GT22.

In addition to organising film screenings, the Association for Film Culture Development organises lectures and workshops and connects film makers and film lovers in the Podravje Region of eastern Slovenia. It also organises various film projects, issues publications and runs a mediatheque. Film Vertigo [Filmsko vrtoglavo], a fortnightly radio programme dedicated to film, was also broadcast from 2004 to 2010 by the association on Mariborski radio Študent (MARŠ).
