The [[Slovene Writers’ Association]] and the [[Sodobnost International Cultural Society]] publishing house decided to introduce an award for short stories because this literary genre had not previously been recognised by a national award. In 2005 the Award (€ 1,000) was conferred for the first time at the [[Slovene Book Days]] on Janez Kajzer and his Zaznamek za dosje (File Note). The jury selected the winner among 205 entries.
