Awarded by the Central European Initiative (CEI), a platform for regional co-operation, and the Slovene Writers’ Association, the CEI Fellowship is aimed at fostering international cooperation and stimulating young authors from the 18 CEI member states.

An award of €5,000 enables recipients to partake in a three-month residence in any CEI member state of the candidate’s choice. Applicants should be young authors up to 35 years of age from non-EU CEI countries (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine). The call for applications is published on the CEI and Slovene Writers’ Association websites. The candidates are special guests of the Vilenica International Literary Festival, during which the fellowship winner, selected by an international jury, is announced. After completing the residency, the candidate is to submit a written report, which is published on the Vilenica Festival and CEI websites.
