Since 1996 the Cankarjada Theatre Festival has been taking place in Vrhnika every September. The festival presents new productions of improvisation theatre, street theatre and stand-up comedy by local theatre groups like Improtentni or KUD Podlipa-Smrečje, in collaboration with the best representatives of the genre in Slovenia: Ana Monró Theatre, Priden Možic Cultural Association, Narobov, Unikat Theatre, Dejmo Stisnt Theatre as well as Glej Theatre.
