Archival article

Established in 2006, Vest.si ("news" as well as "conscience") was the first online daily in Slovenian which featured news, interviews and reports in the form of video clips, including daily contributions on culture. In 2007–2008 a special project included regular coverage of selected cultural festivals (Exodos, LIFFe, City of Women). The Vest.si "Culture" archives hold a rich coverage of cultural events round Slovenia. Every second Thursday Vest.si recorded a live concert in its studio (the programme ranged from emerging musicians to renowned bands such as Lolita).

Vest.si was developed as an innovative and contemporary media by a collective of journalists and other media- and web-related experts (among them Jani Sever, Jonas Žnidaršič, Denis Sarkić, Vlado Škafar, Stojan Pelko, Vuk Ćosić, and Ozren Škodrić).

Although depending on the market revenue it received also grants from the Ministry of Culture, for example, for the Vesti na Vesti [News on Vest] daily show and for the adaptation of the online game Lettris into Slovenian language. Nevertheless, the lack of sufficient revenues brought a shift in its activities. The Vest Publishing Company transformed into a film production company, specialising in documentaries and web serial Prepisani (Copied).
