Forma Viva Open Air Stone Sculpture Collection, Seča is one of several in Slovenia which arose out of the International Symposiums of Sculptors called Forma viva, an initiative of sculptors Jakob Savinšek and Janez Lenassi.

Modelled after a symposium held in St Margharethen (Austria, 1959), the first two symposia were organised in Kostanjevica na Krki (wood) and in Seča near Portorož (stone) in 1961"in" can not be assigned to a declared number type with value 1961.. Later, two other venues were included: Ravne na Koroškem (1964, steel) and Maribor (1967, reinforced concrete).

In the course of fast five decades (in 2011 the 50th anniversary is in sight) this international project of 'live' sculpture in the open-air has involved around 150 sculptors from all over the world who have enriched the cultural treasures of Slovenia with around 300 sculptures. In the Portorož gallery in the open air and in the coastal towns over 165 stone sculptures have been installed.

On the last edition of Forma Viva in October 2009 there have been working Zhao Li from China, in New York living Macedonian Gorazd Poposki, Peter Roller from Bratislava, working hier also 22 years ago, and young Dutch artist Chris Peterson. In 2009 have been also installed the sculpture of the bird of Vladimir Makuc (otherwise established Slovene painter taking the symposium Forma Viva in 2003), to wit infront of the storehouse for salt Monfort in Fizine, the location of the second part of painting exhibition Ex-tempore Piran - International Painting and Ceramics each year also prepared by the Obalne galerije - Coastal Galleries.
