The Institute aims to create contact points between Slovene and French forms of contemporary cultural expression. It also deals with classical culture in all its aspects, runs French language courses in Ljubljana and in France, administers exams and awards certificates, offers grants to translators, and manages a library and a mediatheque/information centre.
Various stipends, primarily for humanities and social studies, are offered for pieces of research or PhD studies in France, also in co-operation with Slovene universities. In the field of science the Institute operates the Proteus programme in co-operation with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Paris.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
