The [[Celje School of Museology]] was founded in [[established::1995]] as an educational project run by [[Tanja Rožbergar Šega]] from the [[Celje Museum of Recent History]]. The school has 8 programmes and it also includes a the ''Piran Museology Summerschool'' that for more than four years has taken place in the historical coastal town Piran, usually at the end of May. With the selection of Slovenian and international lecturers it is intended for museum experts, students from humanistic disciplines, young experts and future museology experts.

The summerschool consists of lecturers, workshops, film projections and excursions to nearby museum sights. In May 2010 the school was organised with the help of [[British Council Slovenia|The British Council]], the topic of the 4-day educational event was ''Museums and Social Harmony''. The aim of the recent edition was to question the role of the museum in modern society by debating the museum's role as a socially aware institution the need to take a more active approach.
