Phainomena is a quarterly journal devoted to the study of and translation in the areas of phenomenology, hermeneutics, social hermeneutics, philosophy of religion, theory of science, philosophy of art, history of philosophy, and philosophy of culture. It has been published since 1992 by the Phenomenological Society of Ljubljana and Institute Nova revija, while the international editions are published in cooperation with the Organisation of Phenomenological Organisations.

About

Phainomena is the pre-eminent journal for phenomenological and hermeneutic philosophy in Slovenia and the first of its kind to emerge in Central and Eastern Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It brings together philosophers, academics, and researchers from Slovenia and the world over in an effort to open a space for new discussion, dialogue, and perspectives. This process is bound up with the body of European spiritual tradition, but also transcends its boundaries and frames. Also notable are translations of seminal philosophical texts and treatises into Slovenian, which greatly contribute to and advance Slovenian philosophical terminology. Some of the authors translated include: Aristotle, Freud, Derrida, Heidegger, and Nietzsche.

The journal Phainomena is indexed in: The Philosopher’s Index; Scopus; Sociological Abstracts; Social Services Abstracts; Worldwide Political Science Abstracts; Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts; Internationale Bibliographie der geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlichen Zeitschriftenliteratur; Internationale Bibliographie der Rezensionen geistes- und sozialwissenschaftlicher Literatur; Social Science Information Gateway; Humanities International Index; Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory; EBSCO; ProQuest; Digital Library of Slovenia (dLib.si); Revije.si.

Their website features an archive of past issues and, also noteworthy, a forum which fosters reflection, discussion, and commentary, in addition to providing a range on information relating to this sphere of knowledge.
