The Centre's constituent institutes operate on a distinctive interdisciplinary basis (combining humanistic and social studies and natural sciences), placing particular emphasis on the research of topics related to the Mediterranean and the Upper Adriatic area. In the period from 2004 to 2008, the basic research activity of the Centre is being conducted within the following three research programmes: The Mediterranean and Slovenia; Areas of Cultural Contact in Integration Processes; and Biodiversity .
The Centre is an active player in the international scientific arena, collaborating with similar foreign institutions and engaging in several EU programmes, including TEMPUS PHARE, Life Nature and the 6th Framework Programme as well as Culture 2007.
Culture.si offers information on Slovene cultural producers, venues, festivals and support services, all in one place. It encourages international cultural exchange in the fields of arts, culture and heritage. The portal and its content is owned and funded by the Ministry of Culture, funded by the European Union Recovery and Resilience Plan and developed by Ljudmila Art and Science Laboratory.
