The Sector for the Slovene Language of the Ministry of Culture (Directorate for Cultural Development and International Affairs) is in charge of the uniform and harmonised monitoring of enforcement of legal protection for the Slovene language. Its purpose is to link political, administrative and expert authorities in the use, promotion and development of the Slovene language.

It is responsible for guaranteeing the suitability of legal solutions and their enforcement, and ensuring that enquirers receive answers to their linguistic questions. The sector co-operates with scientific, educational and other organisations and associations dealing with linguistic issues and with similar organisations in other countries.
