Named after the renowned ancient languages translator Anton Sovre, the Sovre Award is granted annually in recognition of the best work within the field of translating both works of fiction and scientific texts. The award has been bestowed by the Slovene Association of Literary Translators since 1969.


Among the more recent Sovre award winners have been: Tina Mahkota (2013), Branko Gradišnik and Branko Senegačnik (2012), Jaroslav Skrušný and Nada Grošelj (2011), Primož Vitez (2010), Nives Vidrih (2009), Urška P. Černe (2008), Vasja Bratina and Andrej E. Skubic (2007).
