The Tartini String Quartet ranks among the best chamber ensembles on the Slovene chamber music scene. Originating in 1983 when the leaders of the four string sections of the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra decided to establish a string quartet, it adopted the name of famous Piran virtuoso violinist Guisseppe Tartini in the early 1990s. The Quartet comprises Miran Kolbl and Romeo Drucker (violins), Aleksandar Milošev (viola) and Miloš Mlejnik ('cello).

After over 400 concerts the Quartet has become an ambassador of top-ranking Slovene musical culture on both the domestic and international concert stages. For more than seven years it has given a cycle of concerts entitled 'Evenings of Chamber Music' in which it has collaborated with Slovene and international artists such as Irena Grafenauer, Mate Bekavac, Lovro Pogorelić, Maria Graf, Radovan Vlatković, Gary Karr, Franco Gulli, Enrica Cavallo, Bruno Giuranna, Rocco Filippini and others. The Quartet has performed on the concert stages of important musical centres such as Barcelona, Bratislava, Buenos Aires, Geneva, Munich, Paris, Salzburg, Torino, Venice, and Vienna and has made recordings for Radio-Television Slovenia (RTV Slovenia), TV Suisse Romande, RAI Italia, ORF Austria, RTV Spain and HRT Croatia. Its CDs include works by Dvorak, Ravel, Mozart, Schubert, Chausson and others. The Tartini String Quartet has received the Prešeren Award for its services to Slovene music.
