Mission
The Music Slovenia website is designed to present Slovenian music and musicians to the domestic and international public. The website was established by the SIGIC, Slovene Music Information Centre, which is a central information hub for the promotion of Slovenian music, musicians and music heritage in Slovenia and internationally, while facilitating access to a wide range of information relating to various genres of music, developing its online services and cooperating closely with various institutions and NGOs engaged in the music sector. Music Slovenia thus represents a database of Slovenian musicians, ensembles, bands, festivals, venues, agencies and organizations related to Slovenian music.
The basic purpose of this website is to present the Slovenian music landscape to foreign music producers who wish to invite Slovenian musicians to tours, or to learn about the infrastructure that enables foreign musicians to perform in Slovenia. For example, it represents the festivals MENT Ljubljana or Druga godba Festival or the concert programmes of the cultural centres Cankarjev dom or Kino Šiška Centre for Urban Culture. In addition to the database, the website also includes news, playlists and lists of current tours by Slovenian musicians. This is the first major step towards establishing a music office that will focus on expanding the Slovenian music market abroad.
