Established in 1993, the Association of Slovene Restorers (Društvo restavratorjev Slovenije, DRS) is a voluntary association of professional conservator-restorers who have been educated in the field and have a restoration certificate. Other interested people can be associate members. The Association seeks to facilitate the further development of restoration practice as well as spread the knowledge on the conservation of the natural and cultural heritage among the population. Special working groups deal with issues of legislation, international co-operation and education. The Association of Slovene Restorers organises various study trips and lectures. The Association tries to fill a gap in restoration education in Slovenia - at present tertiary education in this area exists only for for sculpture and painting restoration and is offered by the Department of Restoration, Academy of Fine Arts and Design.
