The Centre for Contemporary Arts initiates, develops and promotes contemporary visual arts in the local, regional and international context, as well as re-articulates and re-contextualizes the heritage of local conceptual and post-conceptual practices that make the foundations of the Center's activity.
Although the programme of each of the Celeia Institute - Centre for Contemporary Arts venue specialised and in basic autonomous, it is in the Centre domain to link those spaces for huger project which are as a rule featured simultaneously in some or all spaces. The linking happens for huge thematic group exhibitions like in the summer 2008, when the exhibition the Image of the space [Podoba prostora] was presented in the Celje Gallery of Contemporary Art and in the Likovni salon Celje. The very complex project in 2 parts exhibited more than 50 art positions of regional artists. It was developed by the house curator Alenka Domjan in the cooperation of guest curators Petra Kapš (Relations between the collective and particular [Relacije med kolektivnim in posameznim]), Mojca Puncer Razpiranje prizorišč vidnega: podoba, medij, telo, and Milena Koren Božiček, who prepared the 2nd part of the exhibition, reflecting the horizons of individuals.
