Orožnova 7, SI-2000 Maribor
Katja Beck Kos, President

House! Society for people and spaces (Hiša! in Slovenian) was set up in 2010, its first and still prominent initiative being the Living courtyards programme with its peak during the Maribor, European Capital of Culture 2012, and later in the scope of the summer Lent Festival. Being an incubator of new ideas and young activists, Hiša! has developed also the Polygon of Knowledge for the Maribor 2013 – European Youth Capital.

House! is part of the Actors of Urban Change the Robert Bosch Foundation. It is recognized as an innovative local community initiative (Award InLoCom 2013), and received two Challenge Future Summit 2013 awards in the category of social enterprises and the main prize of Maribor. Today it fosters culturally and socially invigorating programmes, its professional team working intensively on the cooperation of the private, public and creative sector.

Living courtyards and Living town

Living courtyards, a year-round program, has brought to life several abandoned semi-public spaces, the Maribor backyards in the city centre, giving an opportunity to artists to revive courtyards in collaboration with the local community. The project has won the best international collaboration prize at the BIO 50 (Biennial of Design (BIO)).
